Monroe County Addressing

 PoconoGIS

PoconoGIS was chosen as the addressing fieldwork consultant for many of the Boroughs and Townships in Monroe County & Pike County.  We will be visiting all residents in these areas to gather/verify your mailing address and phone number. If you are not home, we will leave a mailer with information on how to contact us.

To respond online to a mailer left on your door, please choose your Township or Borough below. If you Borough or Township is not listed below, please contact us by e-mail at Kim@PoconoGIS.com or call 610-871-0472.

NOTE the ID on the letter is NOT your new address; the county is assigning the new addresses and will clear them with the Post Office and then send you notification of a new address to the above mailing address. Since they are reviewing almost 100,000 addresses, this may take 6-9 months before you hear from them.

Lehman Township (Pike Co) is dispatched by the Monroe County Control Center and is part of this project.

The basics of addressing include:

        1. Establishing a new street map, that does not have conflicting road names with adjacent municipalities or have street names that sound alike. ie.. Beach St & Beech St.

        2. Identification of Dwellings, this includes the current residents mailing address and phone number. (Fieldwork)

        3. Addressing, in this stage they use the computed distance to derive the new address for your dwelling.

        4. The new addresses are submitted to the Post Office, who has a chance to review and enter in the new addresses. Once they have been reviewed the County will establish a release date.

        5. Finally the residents are notified of their new addresses by mail, the addressing information is passed along to the Borough, the phone company and the county control center.

Why do we ask for your name, mailing address and phone number?

The phone company provides address information to the control center when you call 911. By using your phone number we will submit the new address to the phone company so they in turn provide it to the dispatchers. Your address information also allows us to match to the Postal records avoiding mail delivery problems. We may use your phone number to contact you if we have a question during the postal address matching. We do not sell or redistribute the phone numbers.

How long does this process take?

The target date was 18 months, however variables such as weather and resident response can delay the fieldwork portion of the project, then the Post Office has their chance to review and comment on the addresses, which can take several months, finally the county reviews and releases the notification letters.

PoconoGIS was chosen as the consultant for the fieldwork portion. Our task is to gather the information for Boroughs, Townships, and the County. The Borough or Township is responsible for the road names, and the County is responsible for the new address assignment.
